The Bill of Rights are the first 10 Amendments to the United States Constitution. After the Constitution was written, it was felt that the document was inadequate to fully set forth the individual liberties which a free society requires. Under the leadership of James Madison, the Bill of Rights were adopted. Former President John F. Kennedy observed that “they are the most extraordinary and are the most detailed guarantees of liberty that any people now on earth possess”. This guarantees Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, the Right to Peaceable Assembly, the Right to Petition the Government for a Redress of Grievances as well as the Right to a Speedy and Public Trial, Trial by Jury, the Right to be free from unreasonable search and seizures, and much else. However, in order for the Bill of Rights to be more than an old piece of decaying parchment, one needs an advocate to give effect to these rights.
My love for the concept of ordered liberty continues to fuel my desire to practice law in the courts of New York State. Whether it is making sure that justice is done for my client after an unreasonable search of his vehicle, that juries are properly instructed as to the law in a felony case, or vindicating my client’s Second Amendment rights when faced with the burden of tyrannical “red flag laws”, you can be confident that I will afford you effective representation at all stages of your proceedings.
